2024 RMM Lapping Days: A Season to Remember
From April 15 to October 15, 2024, I had the privilege of inviting over 38 friends from Spec R to join me at RMM lapping days. These events were more than just track days—they provided a safe, controlled environment to test tires, exercise cars, and clean up engine carbon. Beyond the technical benefits, these lapping days fostered a strong, passionate community of car enthusiasts, each bringing their unique energy and stories to the track.
Looking Ahead to 2025
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined me on this incredible journey. Together, we shared knowledge, enjoyed smooth yet challenging drives, and built lasting friendships.
RMM is more than just a track—it’s a hub for learning, growth, and community. In 2025, I aim to introduce programs tailored to drivers of all skill levels and vehicles, offering opportunities to test tires, refine driving techniques, and connect more deeply with their cars. These skills not only enhance track performance but also promote smarter, smoother, and safer everyday driving on public roads.
Alberta is already celebrated for its winter sports like skiing and snowboarding—so why not add motorsports to the mix? With RMM’s year-round accessibility, driving could become Alberta’s next great winter tradition.
Driving alone at the circuit can feel isolating, which is why I’ll continue inviting Spec R friends to join me. Together, we can make 2025 even more memorable—bringing fresh ideas, deeper collaboration, and countless thrilling laps.
Here’s to another incredible season of passion, performance, and community at RMM! This is the meaning of Spec R Motorsports—we proudly support it.
PS: If I missed thanking you, please know it wasn’t intentional—there are just so many friends to appreciate. Thanks for your understanding!
Here are some highlights from this unforgettable season:

Brian shared with me an interesting story about why the Mustang engine can lose its oil filter.
Sheldon and Winston
Two professionals paired up on the track, seamlessly blending discussions about banking strategies in the classroom with pushing their cars to the limit on the circuit.
Asian Friends with Japanese Cars
Sharing and swapping vehicles highlighted the camaraderie of motorsports, creating unforgettable driving experiences.
Aston Martin DBX Driver
A determined lady rose to the challenge of mastering her 697-hp SUV on the circuit, showing incredible progress throughout the day.
Uncle Terry from Hong Kong
Known for talking about his FL5 faster than he drives, Uncle Terry’s track skills showed great improvement. Frank convinced him to test his FK8, leading to the discovery of a fuel pump recall under warranty—a perfect example of the practical benefits of lapping days. Trenton, an auto technician, also realized the value of modifying his FK8 through these experiences.
GR Corolla Owners
Conard brought his son, and Jeremy brought his wife, turning the track day into a family bonding experience filled with excitement.
Tom’s Hyundai
Tom pushed his Hyundai Accent to the limit, proving that its Hankook R-S4 tires were a perfect match—a proud moment for both the car and the tires.
Vaheed’s Scion FRS
Vaheed impressed everyone with an astonishing 1:48 lap time at RMM, setting the benchmark for the day.
Mike (CTR) & David (911)
Mike’s late arrival caused him to miss two morning sessions, while David left early to care for his baby. Despite their limited track time, both made the most of their runs.
BRZ Brake testing
Andy pushed the limits of his Hawk DTC-30 pads, preparing for an upgrade to an AP Racing competition kit for future sessions.
Senior of Speed
Dave confidently declared his new BMW M2 far superior to his previous Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, showcasing the precision of German engineering on the track.

This driver entertained everyone by burning through old tires and executing flawless sideways drifts at Turn 10.
Yida Xu
Visiting from Vancouver, Yida tested Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires—a great balance of highway practicality and light track performance.
Colin’s Miata
A 1994 classic Miata once again proved its worth during an intense autocross session, showcasing its timeless capabilities.
Fishy’s JDM Civic Type R
Shipped all the way from Japan, this authentic Civic Type R brought a distinct JDM flavor to RMM, delighting everyone with its performance.

After three years of persuasion, Paul finally unleashed his Miata on the track, proving once again that Miata is always the answer!
James
A top coworker who is smart, fast, and dedicated to testing tires to their limits—perfectly balancing control and speed for maximum performance.
James has an incredible ability to push tires to their absolute limit. Even when the compound starts peeling off, he skillfully adapts his driving style to make the most of the situation.
Piero
Fresh from Hong Kong, Piero joined us to experience the difference between track days in China and at RMM.
We always burn through old tires before switching to new ones
Sam’s Porsche GT4 started with old tires he thought had no grip. Through exercises to warm them up, he gained speed and confidence. Two days later, he not only wore out the old tires but also pushed his new set to the limit, showcasing how quickly skills can improve.
Trevor
Driving a BMW M3 on Conti EWC 02 tires, Trevor discovered they couldn’t handle the cornering forces. After switching to Firestone Indy 500 tires, he continued to practice and improve at RMM.
Special thanks to Doug, a fellow BMW lover, for giving Trevor a ride in his time-attack-prepped BMW.
Clayton (16)
At just 16 years old and without a license, Clayton’s skills on the track demonstrated that passion and determination know no age limits.
First High-Speed Off-Track Experience
A Turn 1 mishap led to a bent wheel, underscoring the importance of RMM’s safety features. Ceramic brakes proved their durability, reinforcing the need to brake hard when necessary. Jay, please trust the ceramic brakes—they’re expensive but designed to keep pushing limits.
GT3RS over sound limit @RMM
Gary is incredibly smart and learns quickly, but he just can’t resist accelerating because of the engine sound! We’ll need to modify the exhaust for next season to keep things balanced
Keith
Driving a Porsche without power steering is a workout! After just two laps, my hands were shaking—a testament to Keith’s endurance.
Warren & Aunt Clara
After much planning, Warren finally had his track day, guided by Aunt Clara. Clara amazed everyone by lapping solo and mentoring new drivers—a truly inspiring performance.
Best Friend and Co worker
Cole, both a racer and an instructor, took charge of guiding his brother on the track—true family time.
